SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. —Vermont Gas Systems, Inc., submitted new paperwork to the Vermont Public Service Board on Thursday that amends the original route planned for the company’s proposed 42-mile pipeline.
The first proposal filed in December received some opposition in the towns of Monkton and Hinesburg because it sent part of the pipeline down Monkton Road.
In January, residents there told News Channel 5 they were fearful this route would comprise their safety. For many, the pipeline would have run close to their homes, positioned close to the street.
Thursday’s paperwork amends that route to now go behind many of those houses, mostly along an existing electric line run by VELCO.
