MONKTON — When Nathan Palmer heard a natural gas pipeline might be coming through Addison County, he first thought about switching his auto garage business from oil to gas to save money. After Palmer learned the pipeline was slated to go through his Monkton land, though, he read up on natural gas and changed his mind.
He and his wife, Jane, are opposed to having a trench dug across their property to bring a pipeline within 125 feet of their living room, carrying potentially explosive gas that has been extracted from the ground through hydraulic fracturing in Canada.
